Brainstorming pays off.

When the Greater Fall River Area of Chamber of Commerce & Industry employees discussed what type of expo to hold after their successful Bristol County Home & Garden Show in March, they came up with a few suggestions before deciding on something new and different.

According to Kimberly Cora Moniz, Director of Marketing and Events, the idea to plan a What Women Want Expo seemed like a fun way to attract a specific audience: Women of all ages and diverse cultural backgrounds.

“With Mother’s Day coming up, we signed on a variety of vendors to promote and sell their products and services geared to what women want to own or experience in their lives,” she told Joindayo.com Communications Director Donna Motta.

What does that include?

Answer: A variety of jewelry choices; fine chocolates, travel destinations and tips, and information geared towards health and wellness.

As part of our mission to promote positive happenings in the Greater Fall River area, Joindayo.com employees turned out to help promote the variety of business vendors.

We spoke with several exhibitors about their products including, Mr. Emile Chagnon of Swansea, owner of Fancy Firewood; Allyson Rego, Travel Specialist of Liberty Travel; and Ms. Natalie White, of PYT Hair Flat Irons. John Hoyle of Owens Corning raffled off a free basement makeover, while Michael Kramer of Rescom offered a $36,000 Window Sweepstakes drawing.

Chamber of Commerce Events and Communications Associate Julie Sousa said the planning began last October.

“It takes a ton of coordination and careful planning to hold yet another successful chamber event,” Ms. Sousa explained. “But while the expo is geared towards women, men were also invited to see well, what women want, perhaps for a Mother’s Day gift.”

The event was held at Bristol Community College and attracted hundreds of people from throughout the SouthCoast area.
